Wine of the Week Le Jaja de Jau 2011

This lovely, simple wine from an estate dating to 1792 uses the name Jaja, slang for everyday wines of the region. Made of 100 percent syrah, with 13 percent alcohol, Le Jaja de Jau is peppery with black currant fruit flavors, smoky notes, hints of Kirsch and herbs d’Provence. It is vinified to preserve the ripeness of the fruit and bottled early. You’ll find these wines in the neighborhood bistros, reflecting the best that summer has to offer. The Douré family has been making them for hundreds of years. Visit http://www.pasternakwine.com/_webapp_2839526/Château_de_Jau
