Wine of the Week – Dashwood Pinot Noir 2013

The well drained soils and mild temperatures of New Zealand provide a great climate for winemaking. At Dashwood, a brand of Vavasour Wines created in 1989, the goal was to blend grapes from the Wairau and Awatere Valleys in Marlborough.
The Pinot Noir 2013 is a lighter red, ideal for those who don’t want to abandon red wines in the summer months. Elegant, with notes of blackberry, plum and cherry, it’s bold and well balanced with soft tannins and good structure. The fruits yield vibrant flavor. The wine, which is 13.5 percent ABV, makes the perfect complement to a variety of dishes from roasted chicken to salmon, duck and pastas.
