Colorado brewer, Breckenridge, is celebrating 25 years this year since self-termed ‘ski bum’ and home brewing fan Richard Squire decided to turn his passion into a career of brewing great beers. Vanilla Porter, on their “mainline’ list, is made with ingredients from Madagascar and Papua New Guinea with some undescribed ‘surprises’ thrown in.
We discovered it recently at Pier 6 on a steamy summer night and loved the combination of flavors.
Breckenridge expanded from a 3,000 barrel brewery in 1992 when it moved the facility to Denver, becoming a craft beer and restaurant company producing 62,000 barrels annually. Vanilla Porter comes in 6 packs of bottles, half barrel and one-sixth barrel kegs. The beers are available in 32 states.
