Anita Lo’s Anissa in Greenwich Village will close in late May
NEW YORK – Chef-owner Anita Lo is closing Anissa on Barrow St. in Greenwich Village in late May due to sharp real estate tax increases together with a higher minimum wage. After 17 years, her taxes reportedly more than doubled to $80,000. What operators can charge of meals today has not kept pace with other skyrocketing costs, she says in a published report.

NEW YORK – A sibling restaurant to Jacob’s Pickles, Maison Pickle, opens at 2309-2315 Broadway in a space that used to be Quest. Jacob Hadjigeorgis’ second restaurant will serve French dip sandwiches, dumplings and more. Eater New York also reports The Fat Monk, from Chef Rob McHue, will open at 949 Columbus Ave. with dishes such as skillet macaroni and cheese, burgers and more.
