BOSTON – Sustainable Business Network of Masschusetts (SBN) holds its AllLocal Dinner on Sunday, April 23, at Mei Mei Restaurant in the Fenway here from 5:30 to 8 p.m. to raise awareness of the benefits and challenges of seasonal cooking and promote local agriculture by highlighting local food and local food systems. SBN defines local as the New England regional food system.
Mei Mei’s Chef Irene Li is a three-time nominee for the James Beard Rising Star Chef of the Year award and will highlight both the best and the most challenging aspects of sourcing and working with local food, providing guests with an honest discussion of what goes on behind the kitchen door.
Diners are invited to arrive at 5:30pm for pre-dinner beverages and appetizers and opening words from SBN and Mei Mei Restaurant. From 6:00pm to 8:00pm, diners will enjoy eight family style dishes, all composed of locally sourced foods, highlighting New England’s unique and distinct culinary heritage and Mei Mei’s unique food concept. Chef Irene Li and her team will highlight the relationship of each dish to aspects of our regional food system and culture as well as speak to their own influences contributing to the composition of each dish. Tickets are $55 for dinner or $65 for dinner and two drinks.
