BOSTON – The Taste of the North End, celebrating 24 years, returns to the Steriti Rink on Commercial St, this month on April 28, benefitting North End Waterfront Health this year as it continues its tradition of supporting the neighborhood’s charities.
Founded by Donato and Nancy Frattaroli in 1993, it began as a benefit for Casa Monte Cassino. That was the year the Frattorolis learned of a family from Italy, staying there with their four daughters who were patients at Boston’s Children’s Hospital.
Touched by their story, the Frattorolis were inspired by the mission of Casa Monte Cassino which provides help to families in need from around the globe who bring their children to the city for major medical help.
With the community’s help, they held the first annual Taste of the North End with guests and 15 North End restaurants, which took part.
The tradition, which has raised more than $450,000, continues today. This year will see more than 45 participating restaurants, bakeries and foodservice distributors participating. You’ll want to head to http://totne2017.brownpapertickets.com/ for tickets before it sells out.
